Parent and Carer Survey

Another big thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the parent and carer survey that we carried out in November 2019. We received 127 responses and 95% of parents and carers said that they would recommend Goose Green to other families - a great endorsement of the school’s work and a 5% increase on previous years!

Your responses highlighted the great work of the school staff and we will be passing on your comments to the team so that they can see how much their commitment to Goose Green is appreciated. We were also pleased to see positive responses to the school’s work to encourage good behaviour and focused learning, and also the support the school provides to children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Examples from your feedback include:

"Goose Green provides a caring and supportive environment for my children and I am very happy with how the school has helped them to thrive and develop a love of learning."

"Lovely atmosphere at school, improved teaching over the last few years. Good sense of community."

"Brilliant teaching, excellent leadership, inspiring community feel in a very diverse school which is really lovely."

"Brilliant community and excellent pastoral care. The school had gone above and beyond for my son and I. Great values. Teachers that are clearly passionate about their jobs and the children."

"Provides a warm, safe environment for the children, with a wide curriculum. Staff engaged and genuinely care about the children. They think holistically about the children and their development and strive to make the learning relevant and engaging. My children are very happy there."

The majority of the survey questions were based on the questions that Ofsted ask on their Parent View survey. These have changed since the 2016 and 2018 surveys which means that most of the responses this year are not directly comparable to the responses in previous years. The overall feedback, however, clearly shows that parents’ and carers’ confidence in Goose Green has increased consistently since 2016. The noticeable reduction in the number of ‘don’t know’ responses also suggests that the school’s focus on communicating effectively is having a positive impact.

We received helpful feedback and suggestions for ways that we can make sure that Goose Green is continuing to improve. These included:

  • Making sure that we celebrating the excellent learning that our children have in art, music and sport
  • Looking at opportunities to further develop our after school club clubs and activities
  • Encouraging as many parents & carers as we can to get involved in the school’s development, especially the important fundraising work of the Friends of Goose Green School (FOGGS)
  • Continuing to develop the broad and exciting learning that we provide for our children

The school’s leadership team will be looking at these over the next term and we will keep you updated on progress and developments through the weekly newsletter.
